GlobalFit interviewed employees of all ages and identities to learn about how they live our mission of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, both in and out of the office. Here’s what they had to say.
GF: Thanks for volunteering your time today. Can you please introduce yourself and your role at GlobalFit?
R: Regina Pellegrino, Client Experience Consultant at CHARGE.
GF: Hi Regina! What does a “healthy lifestyle” mean to you?
R: Having a clear mind and feeling energized and "light."
GF: When did you begin focusing on a healthy lifestyle and why?
R: In college. It started from a Behavioral Assessment class where for one of my projects we had to change a behavior and record the data. I decided to track my calories for a few months along with working out. I couldn't believe how much better I felt after being more aware of what I was eating and being conscientious about being active on a regular basis. It was life changing and what made me want to study nutrition!
GF: How do you stay physically active?
R: Barre classes, weight lifting, and getting lots of steps in exploring the city on foot!
GF: How do you practice mindfulness or mental “fitness?”
R: I try to start every morning by reading the daily excerpt from my "simple abundance" book and then I try to meditate for at least a minute ... baby steps!
GF: Does your wellness routine include a certain way of eating? If so, can you describe it?
R: It's very intuitive and it's a lot of balance. I include dark chocolate with peanut butter in my diet everyday and I stick to the basics when it comes to my mains by trying to always have a lean protein, whole grains and veggies on hand.
GF: How do you make time for your wellness routine amidst work, family, and other responsibilities?
R: It's tough and some days or even months are better than others but I think it's prioritizing and being flexible with your routine. I.E. If I can't make it to the gym because of my work/social schedule I'll try to get in more walks when I have to run errands or go out to keep active.
GF: In regards to your wellness routine, what have you tried before that didn't work for you, and why not?
R: Being too strict about my diet. It was an unhealthy relationship and I really enjoy food and sharing the experience with others and that mentality took that away from me.
GF: What does it take for you to be consistent in your wellness routine?
R: Planning ahead of time with meals and putting workout "appointments" in my calendar.
GF: What are your top tips for someone looking to live a more healthy lifestyle?
R: Drink more water!
GF: Anything else you want to mention?
R: Never overwork your body and avoid stress as much as possible.
