GlobalFit interviewed employees of all ages and identities to learn about how they live our mission of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, both in and out of the office. Here’s what they had to say.
GF: Thank for volunteering your time today. Can you please introduce yourself and your role at GlobalFit?
T: Tony Frick, Chairman & CEO of GlobalFit
GF: Hi Tony! What does a “healthy lifestyle” mean to you?
T: Personally, pursuing a healthy lifestyle means focusing on activities and passions that feed my mind, body and soul. This is different for everyone, but for me this includes daily exercise, eating healthy, time with my wife and two amazing children, and fulfilling work that is challenging and impactful on the lives of others.
GF: When did you begin focusing on a healthy lifestyle and why?
T: Organized sports have been in my life since a young age. I was fortunate enough to play lacrosse in college and professionally so fitness has always been a focus of mine. However, it wasn't until my 30s that I truly addressed my diet which has had a profound effect on my energy level, mental acuity and overall wellness.
GF: How do you stay physically active?
T: During the workweek I use GlobalFit Anywhere to take studio classes and hit the gym to stay fit. However, my passion is being outside in nature. Surfing and snowboarding are both great workouts, but being in the water or on the mountain has an incredible ability to recharge and center me.
GF: How do you practice mindfulness or mental “fitness?”
T: One of my favorite activities is wandering through Philly on a long walk with no particular destination. The movement and fresh air always boosts my mood and puts even the thorniest of problems into perspective.
GF: Does your wellness routine include a certain way of eating? If so, can you describe it?
T: No fad diets! They are unsustainable and often detrimental to your long-term health. I eat a healthy and balanced diet with the guidance and support of my Charge Group registered dietitian.
GF: How do you make time for your wellness routine amidst work, family, and other responsibilities?
T: How we spend our time reflects what we value. I value and appreciate my health and therefore even on my busiest days I try to pursue at least one healthy activity - even if that is just walking to a meeting.
GF: In regards to your wellness routine, what have you tried before that didn't work for you, and why not?
T: I'll try anything once, but I have to genuinely enjoy it for it to become a healthy habit. I can't stand the taste and smell of kombucha so obviously it will never be part of my wellness routine.
GF: What does it take for you to be consistent in your wellness routine?
T: Passion.
GF: What are your top three tips for someone looking to live a more healthy lifestyle?
T: I only have one. Try different healthy activities until you find something you are passionate about. If you genuinely enjoy a healthy activity it will be easier to make it a regular part of your life.
